The country music star first came into the limelight in 2001 with his single “Austin,” which rose to #1 on the Country Billboard for 5 weeks. However, we gathered that he has been at the music game for a while before then.
Starting out with singing and playing the guitar in his teens, Blake wrote his first song at fifteen. He went on to receive a Denbo Diamond Award in Oklahoma when he was sixteen years old.
He moved over to Nashville the following year, just two weeks after graduating from high school, to become a country music songwriter.
In May 2015, he suffered a very public divorce with ex-wife Miranda Lambert, whom he married in 2011. In a recent interview, the fan-favorite coach on NBC’s hit show, The Voice, revealed that his broken marriage helped bring him closer to God.
It was during those painful moments that he received the first four lines of his song, “Savior’s Shadow,” in a dream. As soon as he woke up, he grabbed his phone and recorded these heavens-breathed lines. He later said that the song became a source of comfort for him as he faced imminent divorce.
After the release of the song, Blake tweeted:
In all the years I’ve been doing this, I’ve never experienced this kind of reaction from a song.
