Dogs are incredible animals. Many of them are specially trained to offer help to people with disabilities or problems of this type. Those who have been trained are called assistance dogs, and can save the lives of many people by doing things that many do not even realize or appreciate.
The greatest ability of assistance dogs is to be able to perceive the problem before it occurs; they say dogs can feel the problem up to 45 minutes before it happens. This time allows the owner to act before hand, whether taking their medication or going to a place where other people can attend him.
Poppy, this special dog, warned her owner that she would have an epilepsy attack 15 minutes before it happened. That’s why Shannon had time to prepare the camera and put herself in a safe position. Poppy licks Shannon’s face to wipe away the saliva excess that is produced during an epilepsy attack, and because of that she is able to regain her senses faster.
Good job, Poppy. You deserve a great reward for your magnificent work!
