His Parents Died, But One Teacher Changed The Life Of This Boy With Down Syndrome…

Despite medical advances, there are still many things we don’t know about genetic mutations. According to the Argentine Down Syndrome Association, one in 1000 children are born with the syndrome. It is caused by a genetic alteration, not an illness, and its causes are still unknown.

People with Down syndrome are perfectly able to perform any activity just as well as anyone else. They just need a lot of support, understanding and integration. They don’t need to feel excluded or discriminated against for any reason. Rosa is a special education teacher with more than 20 years of experience. She works in an Argentine school, where she met a boy who would change her life.

Pablo Liberini is a boy with Down syndrome and Rosa became his adoptive mother when his parents died. First, Pablo’s mother died and his father felt he was too old to take good care of his son. Pablo always said he wanted to live with his favorite teacher if something happened to his parents. So, his father gave custody to Rosa and her husband. Unfortunately, the father died three months later, so Rosa and her husband became Pablo’s definitive parents.

Rosa and Pablo now live in Sierra Grande, an Argentine mining town. Before becoming a family they had already worked together in a garage, would vacation together with their families and Pablo was the first to dance the waltz with Rosa’s daughter when she turned 15.

Now, Pablo is 40 years old, living in Rosa’s house in Sierra Grande and is a big help to his adoptive parents. He cooks, paints and helps his mom remodel the house. Pablo insists he’ll always remember his biological parents and the memories of them, but he is happy and grateful for finding a second family that is so loving.
