When American Marine lieutenant Dan Haws went to Afghanistan in 2009, he was forced to leave behind not just his wife, but his firstborn child as well. Dan was forced to leave while his wife was pregnant. She was just 5 weeks pregnant when he left.
The soldier wasn’t there when his daughter was born, but when he finally returned in 2010, he had the opportunity to meet his beautiful 4 month old daughter and see her for the first time. The meeting couldn’t have been more emotional. Director, Ryan Southwell, had the opportunity to document the emotional journey of this proud father, who shows that when a soldier returns home, one can’t help but feel a little patriotic.
