A couple who literally waited decades to be together had one of the most nightmarish experiences when they decided to celebrate their honeymoon in Portugal. A journey that was supposed to take three hours took over half of a day, and the couple did not even get to their destination.
84-year-old Geoff Bliss and his wife, Sheila, were disappointed when they spent over 13 hours in the plane and did not reach their destination. The easyJet aircraft made two unscheduled stops and two failed landings before returning the passengers back to the UK.

Geoff and Sheila, who are believed to be among Britain’s oldest newlyweds, met when they were teenagers, but they did not stay together. They both married other people but reconnected after they became widowed.
The couple, who got married last month, was looking forward to their romantic getaway in Madeira, Portugal; however, the weather had other plans.
Due to strong winds, the plane was stuck circling overhead for hours, which resulted in a need for refueling. The pilots tried twice to land the plane at the Madeira Airport but failed to do so. Then, about 13 and a half hours later, the plane landed back in Britain where the couple’s journey began.
Geoff and his bride were not very happy about the change of their plans. In fact, Sheila refused to fly again even though easyJet offered to try again the next day.
“I felt the way they handled things wasn’t very good. My wife has refused point blank to ever go on a plane again,” he said.
We can understand Mrs. Bliss. She was probably really looking forward to having a great time with her new groom. We hope this does not keep her from enjoying her honeymoon with a man she waited so long to be with.
